End Date: 12:00pm, October 21, 2024
Gate Hours: Friday: 9am - 9pm; Saturday & Sunday: 12pm - 7pm; Monday: Exit Only
Location: Sparrow Hawk Camp, 21985 N Ben George Rd, Tahlequah, OK 74464
The first stop you will see as you arrive at the property is the Gate Team. Upon arrival you are subject to a vehicle inspection to verify everyone in the vehicle has a valid ticket and each individual must present an official state, federal or international photo ID including your date of birth being visible on the ID. That ID must match a ticket in the database. The possession of any prohibited items may result in a refusal of entry! All Participants must read and sign a liability waiver. All participants will be given a wrist band. Wristbands must be worn throughout the duration of the event to avoid ejection from the event. If you discover an individual not wearing a wristband, please contact a Ranger and provide a description and last known whereabouts and direction of travel.
Once you clear the gate, you will encounter the wonderful greeters! Here the greeters team will welcome you home and give you important information such as where to camp/unload and then where to park your vehicle after you are done. There is an official parking area.
Greeters will also educate you and probe your knowledge on the principles mentioned above. (hint: know your 10 principles from burning man to Ace the class!)
Rangers are there to help. Lost? Ask a Ranger. Need to know where something is? Ask a Ranger. Having an issue? Ask a Ranger and they can help the best we can. You'll see Rangers walking around all weekend. Just ask if you have any questions. Rangers are there to help.
Don’t miss the Sanctuary at the event! If you need quiet time away from the activities, this is your essential stop for rejuvenating your mind and spirit. Grab a water, put up your feet, and connect with caring members who are dedicated to your well-being. Take a moment to invest in yourself and leave feeling refreshed and inspired. Your mental wellness is worth celebrating!
While not expected, if law enforcement or first responders enter the property please be respectful and cooperate fully.
Saturday Night is the effigy burn. This is a celebratory burn. Sunday night we burn our temple. This is a somber burn for reflecting and letting go.
Please Note: The Effigy and Temple will be closed to access up to 4 hours before the burn
On Saturday, October 19th, after the sun has dipped past the horizon and the moon has risen into the sky, make your way to the river’s edge for a breathtaking display of fire, release, and renewal. At 9 PM, our grand effigy—a majestic rising phoenix, wings outstretched as it rises from the ashes—will be set ablaze by the shore. As the flames engulf the phoenix and reflect in the waters, we are reminded of the power of transformation and the impermanence of all things. The burning of the effigy symbolizes letting go of the past, embracing change, and celebrating new beginnings. Join us by the riverside to witness this powerful moment of release, as the fire lights the night sky, carrying our shared hopes and reflections downstream.
Camps with Large PA systems of the professional variety (commonly known as sound camps) shall conform to the following decibel limits during the event. Enforcement is done by the sound marshal or his deputies via a decibel meter. Please monitor your PA levels appropriately and turn down your levels when asked by a sound marshal or Ranger

The Ten Principles of Burning Man serve as guiding standards for this aspiring regional Burns. Rather than imposing rigid rules on behavior, these principles embody the evolving spirit and values of the community that have naturally emerged since the event began.
Here is a link to Burning man's principles we wish to emulate and one day adopt as an aspirant regional https://burningman.org/about/10-principles/
Ember Oklahoma is a leave no trace event! You pack it in, you pack it out. We encourage participants to be aware of MOOP (Matter Out Of Place), or rubbish, even the tiniest bit. Pick it up if you see it, don’t drop it for others to pick up. As a community we endeavor to leave the land cleaner than when we found it, in order to leave a positive impact in our wake.
On top of the 10 principles, we also honor and cherish the idea of consent and it is a requirement of all of Ember's inhabitants.
Consent is a mutual, voluntary decision that applies to a range of familiar or intimate acts, not just sex. It can be used before venting about trauma, giving hugs, or taking photos. The lack of someone saying “No” does not equal consent.
The acronym FRIES is a way to remember the five elements of consent:
Freely Given: Consent should be given without pressure, manipulation, or impairment from drugs or alcohol.
Reversible: Consent can be revoked at any time.
Informed: Consent should be given after all parties are fully aware of what they are consenting to.
Enthusiastic: Consent should be mutually enthusiastic, meaning both parties want to do what they consent to.
Specific: Consent should be asked for and received before any specific act or change in activity.
Everything necessary to survive and play at a 3-day event in a camping setting. This includes:
Sufficient water and food for 3 days (1.5 gallons of water per person daily)
Shelter and equipment (the weather may be hot, rainy, or cold—check the forecast before heading to the event)
A positive attitude and respect for the event and its attendees
A first aid kit and any required medications
RVs and campers should also carry a fire extinguisher
Weapons
Explosives, fireworks, fuels not in proper containers, tiki torches
Hand-held lasers
Anything falling apart or that makes a mess (MOOP: Matter Out Of Place)
Trampolines
Pets (unless they are service animals)
Items to sell - vending is not allowed!
Please remember that unattended fires are not allowed. A responsible person must always be present with any flame, and it's essential to have fire safety equipment on hand if you have a campfire or are spinning fire.
“Greetings Earthling and Welcome Home to Ember! We are all so glad you could make it! Your fearless Site Ops Team (The Skeleton Crew) here, and we would like to go over a few general things before introducing some of the areas you will encounter during your adventure…
SLOW DOWN!!! That’s right, please don’t be in such a hurry. Whether you are driving to camp, or back to parking, or operating a mutant vehicle, please take your time and keep your speed at or below 4.20 mph. There’s kids out there bud!
Please be respectful of the property and do not deface, graffiti, or mark permanently in any way any walls, structures, trees, nature, etc. Feel free to draw or write something on a piece of paper and tape it anywhere you like. This includes the Portos. Thanks. Leave no trace.
Costume is not consent. Just because someone may be dressed (or not dressed) a certain way doesn’t mean that they want you to touch them. Please be respectful and ask consent before touching others or taking any photographs. Thanks."
